Sun shines bright on Malling Awareness Day, 27 June 2010

On the hottest day of the year so far, well known local retailer, Tim Baldock launched the first Malling Awareness Day – an open showcase for local clubs, organisations and societies to demonstrate their activities and causes.

Malling Action Partnership also launched their programme, helped by local music group, Kanko, who provided African Drumming Workshops. Other family activities, included a popular ‘Guess the Wildflower’ competition.

Funding for the MAP project is for two years, but a key requirement of the programme is to leave a lasting legacy for the benefit of the Malling area. MAP hope this will be achieved by: establishing a group of active volunteers, becoming self-funded, and/or attracting additional funding support for the projects. [2]

Malling Action Partnership and The Beat Project, April 15, 2010

A leaflet available at West Malling's March Farmers' Market included the news that The Beat Project has been appointed coordinator of the Malling Action Partnership programme. This follows a competitive tendering process in January 2010. The strapline on the front of the leaflet reads "Working together to accomplish an enterprising, sustainable and united future". We look forward to hearing more. The Beat Project have previously been involved in projects in East Malling.
